Google Executive Dan Fredinburg Killed in Mount Everest Avalanche, Following Earthquake in Nepal
KATHMANDU, Nepal, April 25 (UPI) — Dan Fredinburg, an adventurer and Google executive, was killed on Mount Everest Saturday morning after a 7.9 earthquake rocked Nepal, his sister Megan announced on Instagram.
“We appreciate all of the love that has been sent our way thus far and know his soul and his spirit will live on in so many of us,” his sister said when she posted the sad news on his account. “All our love and thanks to those who shared this life with our favorite hilarious strong willed man. He was and is everything to us.”
Megan said he suffered a major head injury “and didn’t make it.”
An estimated 1,500 people were killed throughout Nepal Saturday.
Variety said Fredinburg was the chief of privacy for Google’s Google X facility.
