Huawei Fitness Tracker Includes a Secret Bluetooth Headset?

The market for fitness-tracking technology is unarguably saturated. For wearables alone, we have Fitbits, Jawbones and most recently, the Microsoft Band. But a new wristband tracker from Chinese manufacturer Huawei might be the strangest we’ve seen yet…

It’s called the TalkBand B1, and while it comes with many features you’d expect from a fitness tracker, the OLED display can actually be removed from the band and used as a Bluetooth headset for phone calls. The company, which is traditionally known for manufacturing mobile phones, hopes this is what will set it a part from others in the crowded market.huawei fitness tracker bluetooth- gephardt daily
If the device is synced with your phone (compatible with Android and iOS), you put the display into your ear while out for a run to take a call at the same time. The TalkBand will still log your workout, even if you’re using it as a Bluetooth headpiece. The TalkBand tracks your steps, distance and calories burned. TalkBand will begin vibrating, as a security measure, if it’s more than 10 feet from its synced smartphone. Huawei claims that the device has a pretty solid battery life: six days, and it takes two hours to recharge.

To start, the TalkBand will only be available in black, though other colors will be available within the year. Huawei said the device is made with a sweat-, dust- and water-resistant material to prevent discoloration over time.

The device hits the U.S. on Nov. 14 and will cost $130, which is the same price as the Fitbit Charge but about $70 less than the The Microsoft Band.
