LAS VEGAS, March 25 (UPI) — Celine Dion says she and husband Rene Angelil are taking life one day at a time.

The 46-year-old singer opened up about her 73-year-old former manager in an interview with ABC News. Dion will resume her Las Vegas residency in August after taking a year off to care for Angelil, and told correspondent Deborah Roberts the road back has been hard.

“I mean, the fans, they know that I’m an open book,” she said while fighting back tears. “I sing. It’s the only thing I know. He can’t use his mouth. He can’t eat, so I feed him. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day.”

Dion and Angelil married in 1994, and have three sons together: 14-year-old Rene-Charles and 4-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson. Angelil was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999, and had a cancerous tumor removed from his throat in December 2013.

“I am scared of losing him, because it’s bad,” she admitted of Angelil’s cancer to People magazine. “But I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I’m strong and we’re okay … He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him.”

Dion kicked off her residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in 2011, and is signed with the hotel and casino through 2019. Her ABC interview is scheduled to air Wednesday on Good Morning America at 7 a.m. ET and Nightline at 12:35 a.m. ET.
