LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 (UPI) — A video clip has emerged showing Miley Cyrus‘ family react to the verbal altercation between the Wrecking Ball singer and Nicki Minajduring MTVs Video Music Awards.

The verbal squabble started after Minaj wrapped up her acceptance speech by calling out Cyrus for alleged comments she made in August to the New York Times. Cyrus mentioned in that interview how Minaj could have better handled her brief Twitter feud with Taylor Swift saying “what I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj, is not too kind.”

The Best Hip-Hop Video award winner took those comments personally when she attacked Cyrus onstage saying “back to this [expletive] that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley Cyrus, what’s good?”

Cyrus responded back defensively “we’re all in this industry. We all do interviews. We all know how they manipulate [expletive.] Nicki, congratuf-lations.” Minaj could then be seen mouthing off “Don’t play with me [expletive].”

During the altercation, MTV camera’s focusing in on Cyrus’s family who attended the event including parents Tish and Billy Ray, sister Noah, half-sister Brandi and half-brother Braison.

At first the Cyrus family seemed unaware of what was going on until Miley sarcastically congratulated the Anaconda singer for winning an award. Soon however the group seemed just as shocked as Miley when Tish appeared to mouth “Oh my God” to her husband. Billy Ray then took the opportunity to snap a photo of Miley instead.

Despite all the drama and excitement including Kanye West announcing he’s running for president in 2020, this year’s MTV Video Music Awards only garnered 9.8 million viewers Sunday, lower than the 10.3 million who tuned in last year.
