2 shot in early morning altercation in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 1, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police officers are investigating after two men were shot early Monday morning.

Police involvement began at about 3:30 a.m. Monday when a call came in about a disturbance near 4100 West 4400 South. A second call followed, reporting shots fired.

West Valley City Police tweeted at about 9 a.m. Monday that the incident began with a family fight, and the homeowner’s 18-year-old son being forced out or leaving the residence as a result.

Soon after, the 18-year-old forced his way into a second home about a block away, police said. The suspect and the homeowner fought, resulting in both men being shot, according to the WVCPD.

The teenage suspect is in stable condition, and the owner of the second home is in good condition, police said. Both men are expected to survive.
