OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 7, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police were at the scene of a double shooting just a few minutes into Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the area of 20th Street and Jefferson Avenue at about 12:08 a.m., Ogden Police Lt. Chris Kovalsky told Gephardt Daily.

It’s very early in the investigation and details are still emerging, but officers were initially responding to a call about a fight at that location. Apparently, shots rang out just as they were arriving at the residence.

Scanner traffic indicated that the police had been called to the same address earlier in the night and had encountered approximately 20 people, all “very intoxicated.”

Kovalsky said 16 to 20 people who witnessed the incident are currently being questioned.

The individuals who were shot are believed to be men in their 20s, Kovalsky said. Their wounds are not life-threatening. He said it wasn’t entirely clear yet if the two shot each other or if a third party was involved.

Kovalsky said the incident doesn’t appear to be gang-related at this point in the investigation.

OPD’s Major Crimes Bureau is handling the investigation. Anyone who has any information about this case is asked to email Detectives@OgdenCity.com

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
