MOAB, Utah, Feb. 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man wanted by the Emery County Sheriff’s Office after a domestic incident involving criminal mischief and theft was taken into custody by the Moab Police Department.

Kevin Thomas Candley, 38, and found to be heavily armed, was wanted in the incident, which was reported in Green River, a statement from the Moab Police Department says.

A Moab officer working traffic control at a gas line break on U.S. Route 191, south of Moab, noticed a silver Audi that matched the description of the one the suspect was believed to be driving.

The officer followed the car and confirmed the license plate was a match, then summoned assistance from the Grand County and Juab County sheriff’s offices.

“Mr. Candley complied with officer’s commands and exited the vehicle wearing a tactical vest with two loaded handguns in holsters secured to the vest,” the Moab Police Department statement says.

“He also had a hatchet, a fixed-blade knife and a pair of scissors in the vest. During a subsequent search of his vehicle, officers located a shotgun on the passenger seat, and property that had been reported stolen.

Mr. Candley was taken into custody and held at the Grand County Sheriff’s Office Jail, where he was picked up by investigators with the Emery County Sheriff’s Office.”
