Two wounded in Salt Lake City shooting near Liberty Park

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 19, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two shooting suspects have been hospitalized after being wounded in an exchange of gunfire between two cars Saturday night on 500 East near 1000 South, just west of Liberty Park.

The shots were first called in to Salt Lake City Police 911 dispatchers about 5:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a leg wound inside a stopped car near the corner of 500 East 1000 South.

The wounded man was taken by ambulance to Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, where he was being treated for what police described as minor injuries.

A short while later, a second man arrived at University Hospital with at least one gunshot wound to one of his upper extremities. His injuries were also considered not life threatening.

Police investigators were dispatched to both hospitals and were waiting for doctors to give the all-clear before they could question the two shooting suspects, both of whom were expected to be arrested.

Officers on the scene told Gephardt Daily there were multiple witnesses to the incident and their filed investigation was ongoing.

There were no other reports of injuries.
