RICHFIELD, Utah, April 30, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An alleged drunk driver was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say he rear-ended a school bus in Richfield.
Police were dispatched to the crash at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 600 East and 100 North, Richfield City Police said Tuesday night. “The school bus, carrying children, was traveling northbound when a minivan ran through a yield sign and collided with the back end of the bus, resulting in minor injuries.
“The driver of the van fled the scene but was located by Richfield City police approximately 20 minutes later and pulled over.”
The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield, driving on a revoked registration, driving on an expired registration, driving on a suspended driver license, lack of insurance, and possession of an open alcohol container.
He also faces 14 counts of reckless endangerment, according to the press release, presumably one count for each person on the school bus.
