OREM, Utah, July 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah family is mourning the loss of their 6-year-old daughter, who died Monday after a tragic accident at a golf course.

Aria Hill was sitting on a golf cart at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course, where her father and another man were golfing. She was roughly 10 to 15 yards away from where her father was teeing off, Orem Police Lt. Trent Colledge told Gephardt Daily.

The impact of the club sent the golf ball off in an unintended direction, and it struck the 6-year-old in the back of the neck.

“He mis-hit the ball,” Colledge said. “The 6-year-old girl was transported by ambulance to a hospital, then Life Flighted to Primary Children’s. She died at about 9 p.m. It’s a terrible, tragic accident.”

A GoFundMe account has been established to help the family with funeral expenses.

On the GoFundMe page, Aria’s mother is quoted describing her daughter as “silly, spunky, creative, unique, and so so full of love for everyone she came in contact with,” and she says, “There is a huge hole in our hearts that she has taken with her back to Heaven…Fly high my little angel.”
