HERRIMAN, Utah, Oct. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Herriman City and Herriman City Police Department will conduct an active shooter training simulation next week.

The training simulation is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Herriman City Hall, 5355 W. Herriman Main St.

According to a news release from the city, “This event is intended for City staff to experience and plan for the unfortunate yet real possibility of this type of incident occurring in the workplace.”

The city wants residents to be aware that “real life sights and sounds may be seen and heard along the periphery of city hall and through a variety of emergency response vehicles in the area.”

City Hall will be closed to the public during this exercise, but customers may conduct regular city business at the ice skate rental building at J. Lynn Crane Park, adjacent to the south of City Hall.

Public safety services will still be in effect during this training exercise, and residents should continue to report real emergencies by dialing 911.
