Man, woman shot in SLC’s Glendale neighborhood; gang connection suspected

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 40-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were shot early Sunday morning in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City in what police are saying may be a gang-related incident.

A call came to dispatch at 1:07 a.m., a statement from the Salt Lake City Police public relations unit says. First responders made their way to the area of 1210 W. Illinois Ave. The man and woman were transported by paramedics to a hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

“Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Gang Unit responded,” the SLCPD PR statement says. “During their investigation, they determined the shooting to have a gang-nexus.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred shortly after a house party ended. The specific motive to the shooting remains under investigation. The suspect left the scene in a car.

“No arrests have been made.”
