Morgan County basement fire sends 1 person to hospital

CROYDON, MORGAN COUNTY, Utah, September 19, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was taken to the hospital after being injured escaping a basement fire in Croydon Saturday night.

According to the Morgan County Fire Marshal, local, county and state fire crews responded to a call about a house fire at 4200 N. Lost Creek Road around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

They arrived to find the fire in the basement and one person suffering from cuts and scrapes to his arm that he got climbing out of the basement, ducking the smoke and flames.

The fire marshal said he’s expected to be OK, and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Crews were able to put the fire out quickly and while the investigation is ongoing, Gephardt Daily was told it caused “quite a few thousand dollars” in damage.

Residents are said to be staying with family as investigators work to determine what sparked the fire.
