Aug. 24, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The National Park Service is celebrating its 105th birthday on Aug. 25 and entrance fees are waived for everyone.

National parks across the country will be hosting in-park programs and virtual experiences, said a news release.

Masks are required in all NPS buildings and on all forms of enclosed public transportation, regardless of location or vaccination status. Additional details are available here.

“We celebrate the National Park Service birthday on Aug. 25,” the news release said. “On that day in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the act that created the National Park Service. The new bureau was assigned the task of managing 35 already established national parks and monuments. We’ve added more than 380 units since then — so there’s always a new anniversary to celebrate!”

Utah is home to the “Mighty Five” National Parks: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands Capitol Reef, and Zion.

The NPS waives park entrance fees for a total of six days per year; for those days click here.

Visitors just need to show up at the park of their choice Wednesday; if reservations need to be made, click here.
