OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a shooting in which a woman was wounded in an Ogden home late Tuesday night.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 10:54 p.m. to the 1300 block of Henderson Drive on a report that someone had been shot in the face.

Upon arrival, they found that a woman had been shot near her cheek, Ogden Police Lt. Clint Christensen told Gephardt Daily. She was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Christensen said the woman told officers she was shot accidentally as her male friend was showing her the gun.

The man was taken into custody for questioning, and police were interviewing other people who were in the home. It wasn’t known if any of them had actually witnessed the incident.

Police suspect that alcohol may have been involved, but they had not yet confirmed that.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes available.
