SPRINGVILLE, Utah, May 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Springville Police and Utah Highway Patrol are investigating a collision involving three cars and a motorcycle Sunday afternoon.
The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of 400 South and 400 East, a Springville Police Department news release states.
The motorcyclist and his passenger, a 9-year-old girl, were transported to Utah Valley Hospital, where the driver is being treated for head and leg injuries and the passenger is being treated for leg injuries.
Both the motorcyclist and his passenger were wearing helmets.
No one else was injured in the crash.
The three other vehicles were compact cars, according to the news release.
Police said witnesses and the drivers of the cars were interviewed, and “it appears the driver of a Subaru Impreza, a 44-year-old female, was southbound on 400 E ran a red light at 400 S and hit a motorcycle that was traveling west on 400 S and had just entered the intersection.”
The impact pushed the motorcycle into a third vehicle, and the Subaru then struck a fourth car.
The driver of the Subaru is being investigated for possible impaired driving, police said.
The severity of the motorcyclist’s injuries and his current condition weren’t immediately available. His name has not been released.
His 9-year-old passenger’s injuries appear to be non-life-threatening, police said.
