PROVO, Utah, Feb. 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are warning of a phone scam in which recipients appear to be receiving a call from a Provo City number with a demand for payment.

“Criminals are ‘spoofing’ city numbers to commit fraud,” Provo Police officials tweeted. “If you have actual business with the city, Provo311 Customer Service agents can verify who you are talking to and direct you to the right place,” the tweet said.

Anyone who lives in Provo City limits can call customer service by dialing 311. Anyone who lives outside city limits can call 801-852-6000.

If you have been a victim of the fraud call Provo police on 801-852-6210, or make an online report here.
