SOUTH SALT LAKE, UTAH – October 21, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man is in custody after a domestic dispute in South Salt Lake ended with shots fired Wednesday afternoon.

According to Gary Keller, spokesperson for South Salt Lake Police, officers were called out just after 1 p.m. to 79 West Robert Ave. on reports of a man and woman who were having a domestic dispute outside the home. The caller told the dispatcher a female had just left the scene and gave a detailed description of the vehicle she was driving. Keller said before officers arrived on that call, they received another call of a male who had fired a shot at the same vehicle that matched the description of the car in the prior call.

“Witnesses said the suspect left the scene on foot and at first we were unable to locate him until he was later spotted coming out of a house in the area,” Keller said. “The suspect was then seen getting into the same vehicle he had allegedly shot at earlier.”

Keller said they were able to perform a high-risk stop on the vehicle and have taken a man into custody.

A search warrant was later issued on the home, but Keller said the incidents were not related. “There is a search warrant for the house but I am unable to go into detail at this time,” Keller said. “We can just report that no one was injured, everyone is safe and there were no more shots fired.”

This is still developing and an update will be provided as soon as one is available.
