ST. GEORGE, Utah, Jan. 8, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The ground shook just south of St. George on Tuesday night as a series of earthquakes rumbled through the area.
The U.S. Geological Survey website placed the seismic activity 10.5 miles south of St. George.
According to the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, a magnitude 3.1 quake hit at 6:45 p.m. at a depth of 2.6 miles, and a second 3.1 jolt was recorded only one minute later at a depth of 0.3 miles.
At 7:06 p.m., the UU site registered a magnitude 3.0 quake at a depth of 1.2 miles.
Earthquakes with a magnitude of 3 -3.9 are considered minor. They can be felt, but 
rarely do much damage.
