WELLSVILLE, UTAH – July 9, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily) – An argument between a father and daughter ended tragically Wednesday night, when a 17-year-old  Mendon, Utah girl decided to jump from her father’s moving pick-up truck.

Police say Emily Wright had been arguing with her father about being forced to leave a friend’s house when she suddenly leaped from the moving vehicle.

“From what the dad has been able to tell us, it appears Emily jumped in an effort to go back from where he picked her up from,” said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry. “The father said they were just turning a corner by Willow Valley Middle School when the girl jumped from the truck and he ran over her.”

Investigators say the truck was going about 50 mph at the time of the incident and the teen died instantly after being run over.

The police investigation is ongoing.

More details as they become available.
