MURRAY, Utah, August 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating what was first reported as a home invasion after a suspect forced entry into an apartment near 4300 South and Brick Oven Way (180 West) late Tuesday night.

Murray Police Sgt. Marvin Barlow told Gephardt Daily the resident was home at the time, a little after 11 p.m., when the suspect kicked open the locked door of the apartment.

“The homeowner got out,” Barlow said, “and there were no injuries.”

Asked if the suspect was armed, Barlow said, “As far as we know, no weapon was seen.”

Officials are investigating the incident as a burglary, as it’s believed the suspect took property from the apartment, Barlow said.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 19 and 25 years old, with mid-shoulder dreadlocks. He was wearing a white and black shirt.

Anyone who saw anything or who has any information relating to this incident is asked to call police dispatch at 801-840-4000.
