UHP: Two transported to hospital after suspected DUI broadside on I-15 in Davis County

SUNSET, Utah, July 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were injured — one critically — Friday morning when their car car was broadsided in a suspected DUI accident on Interstate 15 in Sunset.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at 9:52 a.m. as a white passenger car, heading north on I-15 in Sunset, near the Davis County/Weber County line, went onto the right shoulder and struck the concrete barrier.

The car bounced off the wall and re-entered the northbound lanes, where it was broadsided by a pickup truck pulling a fifth-wheel camper trailer.

The truck and trailer went off the road to the left and hit the concrete barrier, the DPS th news release states.

The driver and passenger of the white car were unconscious and required life-saving measures.

The driver regained consciousness and was transported to an area hospital.

The passenger of the white car remained unconscious and was flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital in critical condition.

Officials are investigating impairment of the driver of the white passenger car as a possible factor in the crash.
