COALVILLE, Utah, May 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Weber County search and rescue crews assisted a hiker who became disoriented Saturday when the weather became cold and wet near Lewis Peak.
Rescuers used a cellphone ping and a drone to locate the missing hiker, who couldn’t find his way off the mountain, Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue stated on social media Sunday.
“The climb, horse and motorcycle teams were dispatched to find the hiker. Once rescue teams made contact with the man, a medical assessment was completed and teams began walking out with the missing hiker,” the post says.
Due to wet conditions and dropping temperatures, a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter was called to assist, the post says.
The rescue was completed at 1 a.m. Sunday, “and everyone made it home safely.” The sheriff’s office shared several photos of the rescue on social media.
