LOS ANGELES, May 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Actor Johnny Wactor, 37, best known for his role as Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was shot and killed early Saturday morning in downtown Los Angeles.

According to the LA Times, Wactor was fatally wounded after confronting three masked men who were trying to steal the catalytic converter from the actor’s car.

Officer Jader Chavez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, confirmed to members of the media that a fatal shooting happened about 3:25 a.m. near the intersection of South Hope Street and West Pico Boulevard, and the victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

ABC7 in Los Angeles reported that Scarlett Wactor, Johnny’s mother, told the station he was leaving his current job at a downtown rooftop bar when he saw someone he thought was about to tow his car. When he asked “if that was the case” the masked suspect looked up and “opened fire.”

Wactor’s talent rep, David Shaul, confirmed the actor’s death in a statement to Variety.

“Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being. Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him… Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back.”

The robbers fled the scene in a lone vehicle, according to the LAPD. A description of the vehicle or the suspects has yet to be provided.

Soap Opera News reported Wactor’s roles included “Westworld,” “The OA,” “NCIS,” “Station 19,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Hollywood Girl.” He appeared in nearly 200 episodes of “General Hospital” before leaving the show in 2022.
