JERUSALEM, Dec. 23 (UPI) — Officials with Israel’s Antiquities Authority said a suspected ancient relic was identified by a Facebook user as a New Age device. The Antiquities Authority turned to the Internet for help after experts were unable to identify the 24-carat gold-plated object, which is shaped vaguely like a rolling pin, for the six months after it was discovered in a Jerusalem burial ground home to remains from the Roman, Byzantine and Crusader periods.

Amir Ganor, head the authority’s robbery prevention unit, said it took less than 24-hours for a Facebook user to identify the object as an “Isis Beamer,” a German-produced item “intended for the use of naturopaths and people dealing with energy healing.”

“To tell you the truth I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Ganor told NBC News.

“We hope that those responsible for hiding the object in the cemetery will contact us and inform us why it was buried in an ancient structure and to whom of the dead they wished to give positive energy,” the authority said on Facebook.
