British Entertainer Cilla Black Dead At 72

LONDON, Aug. 2 (UPI) — Priscilla White, the British singer and television personality known as Cilla Black, has died in Spain, her agent said. She was 72.

The entertainer was famous for her hit songs “Love of the Loved,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart” and “You’re My World,” as well as for her appearances on TV’s Blind Date andSurprise Surprise.

The BBC reported Black died Sunday in Estepona on the Costa del Sol where she had a home.

“It is with deep sorrow that I confirm… the passing of singer and TV personality Cilla Black,” said her agent, Nick Fiveash. “Details of her death will be announced following the coroner’s report. Her family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.”

Upon learning of her death, Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron remembered Black as “a huge talent who made a significant contribution to public life.”
