Film Reviews: Secret Service, Secret Lives
“Kingsman: The Secret Service”
MPAA Rating: R
Running Time: 129 minutes
Toscano’s Take:
Rating: B+
In theaters this weekend Colin Firth and Michael Caine star in “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”
The film focuses on a young recruit into a top-secret organization constantly battling to save the world.
“Kingsman” offers up a new slant on what has become a tired and worn-out genre by adding the proper amount of cheeky humor and action.
All in all “Kingsman: The Secret Service” is well worth the ticket in.

“Fifty Shades Of Grey”
MPAA Rating: R
Running Time: 125 minutes
Toscano’s Take:
Rating: D-
Also new in theaters it’s the anticipated and controversial “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
I think after the film opens the controversy surrounding the story will dissipate quicker than a Las Vegas fog bank and we can finally focus on the important issue – that – “Fifty Shades of Grey” is a bad film.
Badly paced, badly directed and badly acted, the film just refuses to wake up. Maybe the story needed coffee, or in this case Viagra…
In any case “Fifty Shades of Grey” ends up a victim of it’s own hype.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” is an erotic romantic drama film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson with a screenplay by Kelly Marce, based on E. L. James’ best-selling novel of the same name.
The film tells the story of Anastasia “Ana” Steele, a literature student, who goes to interview the wealthy Christian Grey, as a favor to her roommate. She encounters a handsome, brilliant and intimidating man. The innocent and naive Steele, startled to realize she wants him, despite his enigmatic reserve and advice, finds herself desperate to get close to him. Not able to resist Steele’s beauty and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her too, but on his own terms. Ana hesitates as she discovers that despite the embellishments of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family – Grey is consumed by the need to control everything. As they get close, Steele starts to discover Grey’s secrets and explores her own desires.
The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 11 and it’s in wide release today.
