2 injured in head-on crash that closed U.S. 6 in both directions near Thistle

THISTLE, Utah, April 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were transported to an area hospital Sunday following a head-on crash about 5 miles east of Thistle that closed U.S. 6 in both directions.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Chris Bishop said the crash occurred at 5:39 p.m. when a westbound pickup crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a silver Mazda SUV head-on.

The driver of the SUV was transported by medical helicopter to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck was taken by ambulance to a hospital in serious condition, Bishop said.

The driver of the truck is being investigated for possible impairment, he said.

The highway remained closed in both directions as of 7:30 p.m.
