WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who was hit by a vehicle while crossing a West Valley City street on Wednesday has died, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Seth Baldwin, 21, West Valley City Police Department spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku confirmed to Gephardt Daily. Baldwin passed away Saturday, Vainuku said.

WVCPD Sgt. A. Cheshire told Gephardt Daily that Baldwin was crossing the street at 3:44 p.m. in the area of 4100 South and 3200 West when he was struck by driver, who was eastbound on 4100 South.

“He was taken in to the hospital and had surgery, and was in a coma,” Cheshire said of the victim, who suffered head injuries.

Witnesses told officers the man was in a crosswalk when he was struck, but was crossing against the light. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police, Cheshire said.

Gephardt Daily will release more information on the case as it becomes available.
