TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, June 20, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting at a Taylorsville gas station overnight.

Taylorsville police officers were dispatched on a shots-fired call at 3:17 a.m. Saturday in the area of 4700 South and 3600 West.

“They found one male who had been shot and was deceased in the parking lot,” according to Taylorsville Police Lt. Aaron Cheshire.

Cheshire said a number of people who appeared to be witnesses were detained, but a shooter has yet to be identified and is believed to have fled the scene.

The person found deceased was on the east side of the gas station property, next to a white car, Cheshire said.

A large portion of the station and a neighboring property were taped off during the initial investigation to preserve possible evidence, he said.

A second person was transported, Cheshire said, but that person had not been shot and had no life-threatening injuries.
