LOGAN, Utah, Oct. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Three more possible victims have contacted Logan law officials regarding a suspect charged in the alleged assault of a woman he contacted through the dating app Tinder.

“We have had two additional cases reported to our department, and one additional case reported to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office in reference to Wyatt Martin,” Sgt. Louise Speth told Gephardt Daily.

“We are not releasing additional details at this time because the cases are still active investigations, and there’s been no arrests or charges filed.”

Officials had asked possible victims to call them after the arrest of Martin, 21, this week. In the initial assault case, he faces charges of:

  • Rape, a first-degree felony
  • Aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony
  • Aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony
  • Possession of a dangerous weapon (a high-power rifle) by a restricted person, a third-degree felony
  • Possession of a controlled substances — marijuana, spice, a class B misdemeanor
  • Use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor

The first three charges stem from the reported Sept. 23, 2018 incident. The last three are related to search warrant served on Oct. 8.

According to Martin’s probable cause statement, the woman said she met him through Tinder, and she agreed to meet him at a party at his apartment, near 1200 North on 290 West.

The woman said that once she arrived, Martin pressured her heavily until she drank a shot of whiskey, followed by what he told her was sweet tea. Martin later admitted the “tea” drink contained alcohol, the woman told police.

“The victim said that she began to feel abnormal and felt far more intoxicated than the shot of whiskey and a small drink of the sweet tea would cause,” the statement says.

The woman told police she was taken to Martin’s room, where she tried to fight off a sexual assault until she was told she would be restrained if she did not submit, the statement says.

The woman said she was shown strapping material with loops, the statement says. Police later located looped straps while serving a search warrant.

After leaving the residence, the woman went to Cache Valley Hospital for an assault exam, and at a later date, called Martin from the police department to confront him, the statement says. During the call, Martin made comments that were consistent with the report the woman had given to investigators, the statement says.

Martin was booked into jail on Oct. 8 and is being held on $66, 360 bail.
