SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 20, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — About 30 children and two drivers were uninjured after a school bus and an SUV collided Friday in Salt Lake City,

Salt Lake City Police Department Det. Dennis McGowan said the crash occurred at about 2 p.m. near 900 South and 200 West.

McGowan said the westbound school bus was stopped at a red light at 900 South, and when the light turned green the driver proceeded. The SUV was traveling south on 200 West, and collided with the school bus, McGowan said.

He said it appears the driver of the SUV may have entered the intersection late on a yellow light. The accident is under investigation.

Approximately 30 children on the school bus and their driver were checked out on scene, and all were uninjured. The driver of the SUV was also uninjured.

The children were then loaded onto a second school bus to continue their journey home.
