BEAVER COUNTY, Utah, July 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have located a 13-year-old boy who ran away from a program for “wayward youth” located in a remote desert area of Beaver County Thursday.

The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that officials received a call for assistance from The Redcliff Ascent, informing them that the juvenile had run away from the program located in western Beaver County.

Later that day, officials posted: “We’re pleased to announce to cancel assistance for tomorrow morning. A positive ID was reported in Washington County of him and BCSO no longer feels he is located in our area. Thanks to everyone for helping us.”

The boy, who police identified as Roberto Madrigal, was located Saturday morning.

The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team deployed 12-15 searchers, trackers, vehicles and the state helicopter to search for the teen.

The news release said officials were concerned that the boy might become dehydrated in the hot desert conditions.
