West Valley City PD releases details after stabbing at Valley Fair Mall

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, July 13, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The West Valley City Police Department has released limited details after a stabbing Monday afternoon at Valley Fair Mall.

The call was dispatched at about 2:40 p.m. WVCPD officers in multiple vehicles drove to the scene, at 3601 S. Constitution Blvd.

The department posted the following on X at 5:11 p.m.:

“This afternoon, just before 3 p.m., a male suspect approached a male employee working at a kiosk at Valley Fair Mall. After a brief interaction, the suspect pulled out a knife and began stabbing him multiple times.

“A few bystanders interfered, and were able to separate the suspect from the victim and subdue the suspect until police arrived,” the WVCPD statement says.

“The victim is in surgery at the hospital and the suspect is in custody. There is no threat to the public.”

The police statement says the department is “investigating any possible motives and any possible relationship between the suspect and victim.”
