SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police Department officials have revealed the identities of two of four suspects in the armed robberies of five 7-Eleven stores on Tuesday.
Larenz Proctor, 23, and Noldon Oliver, 18, were both taken into custody and booked on eight charges each of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. The two other males taken into custody are juveniles, so their names are being withheld.
According to identical probable cause statements filed for Proctor and Oliver, South Jordan police notified UPD officials early Tuesday about a car involved in a robbery, describing it as a silver Lexus with Utah plate 4A1NF.
Information provided said the car was connected to four suspects who had robbed a convenience story at 3714 W. 11400 South, and a firearm was involved. In at least one instance, the clerk being robbed was pistol whipped.
UPD officers located the Lexus northbound on 11400 South and Bangerter Highway at about 3:30 a.m.
“UPD officers continued the pursuit to 7800 South where the Lexus exited the highway to go eastbound on 7800 South,” the statement says.
Speeds reached as high as 100 mph, Lt. Bill Robertson told Gephardt Daily at the scene.
“The Lexus was unable to negotiate the turn and crashed into the concrete barrier,” the probable cause statement says.
The four males jumped from the vehicle, and one dropped a pistol on the side of the road before running into a nearby neighborhood. Later, three suspects were found hiding in a backyard shed. The fourth was found standing behind a neighbor’s house.
Proctor, Oliver, and juvenile suspects identified by the initials M.A. and N. W., were taken into custody after a short foot chase, the statement says.
“Located by the Lexus was a Ruger 9mm handgun. At the time of the arrest, there was a green bag (Cotopaxi brand) located with a large sum of currency, the denominations being ones, fives, 10s and 20s.”
UPD detectives interviewed Oliver, who admitted, post Miranda Rights, to participating in robberies on Tuesday morning in Salt Lake City, South Jordan, Magna and West Valley. He also “admitted to possessing the Ruger 9mm and also stated there was a Glock pistol they tossed when they crashed.”
Oliver said he was also involved in the robberies last Friday, Oct. 5, in Midvale, Sandy and West Jordan, stating Larenz was the driver in all eight robberies, and that “N.W. was the other black male in possession of the other firearm during the robberies.”
