SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Nov. 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A  house fire Sunday evening displaced a South Jordan family and left their home significantly damaged.

South Jordan Fire Capt. Ben Kluger said the call came in at 5:43 p.m. about a structure fire at 2619 W. Cherry Grove Way (10320 South).

When firefighters arrived, they found the second-story section of the chimney on fire and smoke inside the house. Kluger said the fire was suppressed from outside and inside the home and was extinguished within about a half hour.

Three people had already evacuated the home when firefighters arrived, Kluger said, and there were no injuries. The extent of damage is still being determined, but Kluger said it was “significant” and the building is not habitable. He said the residents are being assisted by family members.

A total of 17 firefighters responded from South Jordan, West Jordan and Unified Fire Authority.
