WEST JORDAN, Utah, June 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The man suspected in the fatal shooting of a female driver Wednesday morning was found dead hours later in Tooele County.
West Jordan Police officers said that 33-year-old Andrew Larsen was suspected in the death of 36-year-old Jill Lloyd.
It was reported later Wednesday that Lloyd and Larsen were involved in a legal battle over custody of their 10-year-old son. Larsen reportedly had custody of the boy, and Lloyd recently decided to take the fight back to court.
Sgt. Joe Monson, West Jordan Police Department, told Gephardt Daily that the woman later identified as Lloyd was driving northbound on 7800 South and 2700 West just before 9 a.m.
Officers say suspect and victim had a verbal altercation, and, according to witnesses, he shot at least three bullets into her car at close range.
Lloyd’s vehicle continued north on 2700 West and came to a stop against a tree. Lloyd was alone in the car.
Officials said it appears that Larsen died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing.
