Man Having Health Issues While Driving Causes Collision in LaVerkin

LAVERKIN, UTAH, April 13, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A-71-year-old male from Smithfield, UT was having serious medical issues while he drove erratically and into oncoming traffic, police said. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Washington County deputies and officers from the Hurricane City Police and the LaVerkin City Police attempted to stop his vehicle for several miles.

He struck one vehicle on SR9 near 3400 West State, and then later struck a stationary construction vehicle head-on, near 300 S. State in LaVerkin. Damage to signage and construction traffic cones also occurred as he traveled along from near the I-15 Exit 16 on SR9 to 300 South State, LaVerkin, when his vehicle collided with the construction vehicle and stopped.

No serious injuries were reported in either collision and the driver was treated at the scene by medical personnel. The accident is still under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not suspected.
