IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO – August 11, 2015 (Gephardt Daily/Nate Eaton, East Idaho News) – As the news breaks that a Colorado City five-year-old that went missing from a campsite has been found dead in Arizona, it is also the one month anniversary of DeOrr Kunz Jr.’s disappearance from a campsite in Idaho.

Jerald Joseph Williams of Colorado City wandered off on Thursday afternoon while chasing grasshoppers. Coconino County sheriff’s officials said his body was discovered on Monday, but no other details about the death were immediately released.

Jerald had been staying with about 20 friends and family members at a remote campsite in Kaibab National Forest, north of the Grand Canyon.

Two-year-old DeOrr Kunz Jr.’s parents, meanwhile, will not give up hope that their son will be found alive.

“We continue to hope and pray that our ‘lil man’ will be found soon,” Jessica Mitchell and DeOrr Kunz Sr., DeOrr’s parents, said in a short written statement to EastIdahoNews.com late last month.

Their comments came the same day Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman told KBOI 2News the FBI is helping his detectives with the investigation.

DeOrr’s parents confirm they have been in contact with the FBI and, according to Kunz, investigators have searched their house and vehicles.

DeOrr was last seen July 10 while camping with his parents, Mitchell’s grandfather and Isaac Reinwand, a family friend, at Timber Creek campground in Leadore. DeOrr’s parents said they went to explore and left the toddler with their grandfather. The grandfather assumed DeOrr was with his parents.

Bowerman told EastIdahoNews.com late last month that DeOrr’s parents, great-grandfather and Reinwand are considered “persons of interest” because they were all at the campsite but, at this point, none of them are considered suspects.

Detectives are not releasing many new details on the investigation, but Bowerman told KBOI he is convinced Deorr was not abducted. However, he said the possibility has not been ruled out.

Kunz and Mitchell said they will continue to work with investigators until their son is found.

  1. So to start off I just got done watching this program on ID Channel about this 2 yr old and it’s going on what 3 yrs and no one has any info ect on this baby ! I truly believe that the parents did not have anything to do with this , one due to that if they did they ( FBI) would of heard or got wind of some Foul Play and the Parents have stuck to there story ect. When it comes to murder it never stays this quite for this long, someone would of cracked or details leaked out , I do however think that the baby did take off to be with the parents, possibly got off the trail , maybe grabbed by a stranger, animal and is no longer alive . My heart feels for the family and what they indure for the last 3 yrs be under suspicion ect . I’m just saying not all parents are murders ! And if I’m wrong then so be it

  2. christinalynn then why they keep lying and changing storys every time police interview them no baby just disappears they did something and hiding it
