NEW YORK, Aug. 29 (UPI) — Writer-director Woody Allen has tapped Steve Carell to replace Bruce Willis in his next, as-yet-untitled movie.

Willis, who will soon make his Broadway debut in a stage version of Misery, left Allen’s film earlier this week.

Entertainment Weekly said Carell’s representative confirmed the Foxcatcher and The Office star has joined the ensemble film, which is currently in production.

Carell previously appeared in Allen’s 2004 comedy-drama Melinda and Melinda.

No plot details or setting have been revealed regarding the new film, which co-starsKristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Jeannie Berlin, Corey Stoll and Ken Stott.

Allen’s most recent movie was this summer’s contemporary dramedy Irrational Man, which featured Posey, Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix.
