OGDEN, UTAH – October 30, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – An Ogden man involved in a standoff with Utah Highway Patrol and Ogden City Police has been detained and arrested.

Twenty-seven-year-old Cody Hadley barricaded himself in a house near the corner of 800 South and 300 West in Ogden.

Lt. Lee Perry of Utah Highway Patrol said Hadley was observed in Box Elder County Friday morning driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph. When UHP began to pursue the suspect, he gave a hand signal suggesting he was OK but he did not stop.

Officers laid down a spike strip which turned when the suspect ran over it, leaving his tires undamaged. A second spike strip near Ogden worked and destroyed the car’s tires. The suspect led officers to his central Ogden neighborhood where he exited his car and entered the house. Lt. Lee said information suggested the suspect was upset and may have wanted to hurt himself.

Lt. Lee said troopers believe Hadley could have been armed.

The standoff ended peacefully at around 12:30 p.m. when Hadley surrendered.

A neighbor, Brian Leslie, said: “I was in my kitchen cooking breakfast and I heard a bunch of sirens and I came out to my porch and saw a truck fly around the corner with his tires blown off. And he turned the corner and a whole line of police cars were after him. And ever since there’s been cops up and down the street with assault rifles.”

We will have more on this developing story as it becomes available.

  1. As a medical professional, I beg you to reconsider this article. I honestly feel this was a violation to the accident victim – Touching an accident victim should be a legal infraction unless a trained “first responder”. The medical first responder was shocked someone had poured old oil onto open wounds and touched (without gloves) the accident victim. This type of “civilian non-medical” etiquette should not be encouraged, but discouraged – please do not ever touch an accident victim – wait for the proper authorities please! If you desire to do a blessing, do it vicariously from afar.
