“You hate to see anything like that happen, but luckily it seems like no one was hurt,” Central football coach Roland Smith told the Miami Herald’s Andre Fernandez after the game.
An eyewitness described being in the crossfire to WTVJ. WTVJ reported that there were multiple gunmen involved and several suspects were taken by police.
“I was sitting down and it was a boy behind me,” the eyewitness told WTVJ. “He like grabbed me to tell me it was going to be a shooting. So when he told me, I had turned around and my best friend told me he said kneel down because we’re about to aim back at the (person). So when they were shooting back, I don’t know if somebody got hit or not but somebody kneeled down and they started tripping over the floor. And that’s when everybody ran out panicking.”
