SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, June 5, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men riding a motor scooter in South Salt Lake were seriously injured Sunday afternoon when they ran into the back of a car.
The accident happened just before 1 p.m., at 2200 S. West Temple, when a vehicle stopped for the TRAX train was hit from behind by two men on a motor scooter, said Gary Keller, South Salt Lake Police spokesman.
The two men, both in their 20s, were taken by ambulance to area hospitals with head injuries. Keller said neither man was wearing a helmet. One suffered critical injuries and the other sustained serious injuries.
Investigators were on scene for several hours after the accident. Officers suspect impairment as a contributing factor, but Keller said they were not sure if it is drugs or alcohol.
