LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22 (UPI) — Chris Pine and Gugu Mbatha-Raw have signed on to play Meg Murry’s scientist parents in the big-screen adaptation of the late Madeline L’Engle’s classic fantasy novel “A Wrinkle in Time.”
Director Ava DuVernay announced the casting news on Twitter.
“‘Don’t hope it was a dream.’ Thrilled to confirm that Gugu Mbatha-Raw has joined #TeamWrinkle as Dr. Murry, Meg’s mom + brilliant scientist,” DuVernay tweeted Thursday.
“‘As she hugged her father, all was forgotten except joy.’ Wonderful way to end the week. Welcome to #WRINKLE, Chris!” the filmmaker followed up Friday.
Storm Reid will play the central role of Meg and the ensemble supporting her will include Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling.
