NEW YORK, Nov. 10 (UPI) — The day after the election, Emma Watson, famous for her role as revolutionary witch Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” franchise, left copies of Maya Angelou‘s books scattered throughout the subway in New York City and vowed to “fight even harder.”
As part of the Books Underground project, which started in London, Watson has been leaving copies of Angelou’s “Mom & Me & Mom” in the London tube and the NYC subway.
In an attempt to combat the disappointment many are feeling after Tuesday’s presidential election, Watson tweeted she was hiding copies of the books for other subway riders to find and said she was not going to give up her fight.
“Today I am going to deliver Maya Angelou books to the New York subway,” she said.“Then I am going to fight even harder for all the things I believe in.”
Watson shared a photo of herself hiding a book in the side of a support beam at a subway station on 23rd Street.
Potter author J.K. Rowling shared her support for Watson on Twitter.
Today I am going to deliver Maya Angelou books to the New York subway. Then I am going to fight even harder for all the things I believe in.
.@EmmaWatson As I told you a couple of hours ago: I love you xxx
“As I told you a couple of hours ago: I love you xxx,” Rowling tweeted to Watson.
