TOOELE, Utah, Feb. 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A missing, endangered teen has been found in Tooele, police said Sunday morning.
Layton City Police tweeted at 10 a.m. that Kiona Hill-Decou was taken into custody by Tooele Police.
Layton Police issued a news release Saturday to ask for the public’s help in finding Kiona, 16, who was last seen in the Layton area on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Sgt. Clint Bobrowski, Layton Police, told Gephardt Daily late Sunday morning that Tooele County Sheriff’s Office has turned over custody of Kiona to Layton and she is currently being interviewed.
The news release said Kiona was believed to be with 16-year-old Payton Harvell, who was alleged to be driving a stolen white car and in possession of a handgun.
In a subsequent news release, police said Kiona might have been with a woman identified as Lola Renee Anderson, 19.
Bobrowski added that as part of the interview process, police will be speaking to Kiona about the involvement of those individuals, but that police are not able to comment further at this time. He said that Kiona was not physically injured when police took her into custody.
No charges have been filed by police at this time.
