BOUNTIFUL, Utah, March 25, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Bountiful Davis Arts Center on Sunday will host a musical memorial for Kurt Cochran, who was killed this week in London in a terrorist attack on the House of Parliament.
Cochran was struck and killed by the terrorist’s speeding SUV while crossing the Westminster Bridge. Wife Melissa Cochran was hit, but survived with a broken leg and rib, and a cut to her head.
The Bountiful memorial concert will be live-streamed to London so Melissa Cochran can see the support from the local arts community. Her husband owned a music studio, and had contributed his expertise to Bountiful’s SummerFest and to local school productions.
The Cochrans were on the last day of a European trip to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary and to visit Melissa’s parents, who are serving a LDS Temple mission in London for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Law enforcement officials say the SUV was driven by 52-year-old Khalid Masood, born Adrian Russell Ajao, who was shot dead by police. His attack initially killed three and injured dozens of others, at least one of whom has since died.
Musicians who worked with Kurt Cochran will gather at 4 p.m. Sunday for the memorial concert, intended to honor their late friend and let Melissa know they support her and she is not alone.
The public is also welcome to attend the concert at the Bountiful Davis Arts Center, 90 N. Main, Bountiful.
A GoFundMe account to benefit Melissa had raised more than $65,000 as of Saturday morning.
