LOGAN, Utah, April 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were rushed to the hospital late Friday afternoon following a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 89-91 in Logan.
Logan Police Capt. Tyson Budge said the accident occurred at about at 4:47 p.m. when a 26-year-old woman in a white Hyundai Sonata was driving northbound on U.S. 89-91. She crossed the center line at 2600 South and collided, head-on, with a southbound blue Chevrolet Cobalt driven by a 24-year-old man.
In a news release later Friday night, Logan Police said both drivers had to be extricated from their cars by fire and medical personnel. Traffic was diverted from the area and the highway was closed for several hours.
The release added, “An Air Med helicopter was landed at the scene to transport the male driver. The female was transported to Logan Regional and then Life Flight was called to transport her as well.”
Police said the most recent condition report they’ve been given is that both patients were in surgery and expected to survive. No names are being released at this time, but their families have been notified and are with them at the hospital.
According to the release, the crash is under investigation and police will be executing search warrants for any evidence of distraction, impairment or medical causes for the crash.
