June 19 (UPI) — A New Jersey prosecutor said Tuesday two people were charged in the Trenton festival shootings that left one person dead and 29 people injured.
Davone White, 26, of Trenton, faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large-capacity magazine and certain persons not to possess a weapon, a release posted Tuesday on the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office social media page shows.
Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said White was in stable condition in the hospital where he is being treated for injuries from the shooting that occurred at the Art All Night festival in Trenton, N.J.
Amir ‘Mir” Armstrong, 23, also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon. He was in critical condition at a hospital, according to the release.
Neither of the two men have a scheduled court date at this time.
Several people opened fire at the Art All Night event with gunshots beginning at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, police said.
One man died and a 13-year-old was among four people critically injured.
Tahahi Wells, 32, has been identified as the man police shot and killed during the shootings. Wells allegedly exchanged fire with at least two other suspects, Onofri said in a Sunday news conference.
The shooting appeared to be a gang-related dispute.
Onofri did not give further information on the roles of the men charged in regard to the shooting, but said gang-related shootings are taking a toll on Trenton families.
“It’s a hurt and a pain that never goes away, and I know all of you are hurting because of it every day,” Onofri said.
