PROVO, Utah, Oct. 7, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A pair of suspects were arrested in Provo Saturday after police said they stole and used a disabled man’s credit cards.
Keyaira Norton-Rushton and Edwin York were both charged with third-degree felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult; third-degree felony unlawful acquisition of a financial card without consent; class B misdemeanor theft by deception; class B misdemeanor possession or use of a controlled substance; class B misdemeanor use or possession of drug paraphernalia; and class A misdemeanor unlawful use of a financial transaction card.
The incident occurred Tuesday, the Provo Police Department said in a news release on Facebook.
“The gentleman told officers he allowed a female into his home who had posed as a magazine sales person,” the news release said. “At some point, the female took the disabled gentleman’s credit cards. Shortly after she left numerous charges were made to his card.”
Police viewed video surveillance from where the cards were used, and the female suspect was subsequently identified as Norton-Rushton and the male suspect as York.
The suspects were located Saturday, and police said they allegedly were in possession of the stolen cards.
